Together, we found out some interesting facts about his life and began to understand why he is such an important person. We then identified the Christian values Nelson Mandela displayed throughout his life such as perseverance, resilience and kindness.
The Big Write is a one hour session where the lights are dimmed, calming music plays, candles burn, and pupils write freely on a topic they have discussed as homework in the week before. It is a great opportunity to encourage talk across the community, and develops a very strong sense of writer's voice.
