Year 3 receive homework  in mathematics, science, spelling and english. Details are below.

Spelling - Spelling words will be given out on a Wednesday.

A test will be given the following Wednesday.

Reading - Children should be reading to an adult at home for at least ten minutes every day.

This should be recorded in the red reading record journal. Please ensure school reading books and reading records are always in school bags and  at school everyday.

Please make sure that your child has their PE kit at school on Tuesdays and Fridays. 


Please ensure your child has an apron, overall, or old shirt to wear on top of their school uniform during Art lessons. This should be kept at school.

Educational Visits

Year 3 have exciting educational visits and workshops planned each half term.

Autumn Term 2017

Poppy Factory

Each Year 3 class will visit the Poppy Factory, Richmond. The dates for these visits are October 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th 2017. We will travel by public bus. There is no charge for this visit.


We will be attending the Pantomime, Jack and the Beanstalk at the Lyric Theatre, Hammersmith. Two classes will attend on 6th December 2017 and two classes on 13th December 2017.  We will travel by tube. The cost of this visit is c. £16.

Spring Term 2018

British Museum

To support our studies of Ancient Egypt , we will be visiting the British Museum, to attend a workshop  Excavation in Egypt, led by an archeologist. The children will explore the history of ancient Egypt using a timeline linking Egypt’s past and present. They will handle replica objects and discover the fascinating contents of an Egyptian tomb and learn how archaeologists work. In groups students will investigate what these objects tell us about ancient Egyptians, their lives and beliefs. We will also visit the mummies and the Rosetta Stone. Two classes will attend on 22nd February 2018 and two classes on 26th February 2018. We will travel by tube. The cost of this visit is c. £1.70.

Pizza Express

Each class will visit our local Pizza Express restaurant. The children will learn about good food, taste fresh ingredients, and make their own authentic, Italian pizza. This visit will take place on 20th March , 22nd March, 19th April and 24th April. We will walk to the restuarant. There is no charge for this visit.

Summer Term 2018

Walpole Park- Brilliant Bees

Dates to be confirmed.

Kew Gardens- 

All children will visit Kew Gardens as part of their science studies, as well as visiting the gardens Year 3 will attend a workshop  learning about plants and pollination. These visits will take place on 3rd and 4th July.
