6YJ Celebrate Guy Fawkes

Published

On Wednesday 7 November 6YJ presented a lively assembly on the history of Firework Night and Guy Fawkes' attempt to blow up the Houses of Parliament.

The children entertained us with a series of freeze frames showing the story behind the Gunpowder Plot and then sang a drum song entitled 'Guy Fawkes came to the Houses of Parliament' complete with actions! We then listened to some examples of children's writing inspired by their reading of 'The Firework-Maker's Daughter' in Literacy, advising us how to keep safe on Bonfire Night and describing a new firework invention.

The assembly was enlivened by props made by the class, including very authentic 17th century hats. It was a wonderful combination of art, drama, history and music. Well done,  6YJ!
