An Air-Mazing Day

Published

On 5 July 1956 the Clean Air Act came into force. 60 years later, we’re at a turning point again. London has been breaching air pollution limits since 2010 and collective action at all levels is required to clean up the air we breathe.

You may know that traffic is the main source of air pollution in London, with 45% of nitrogen oxides (NOX) and 48% of particulatematter (PM10) coming from road transport. Children are the most affected by polluted air because their lungs are still developing. Air quality around schools is particularly bad during drop-off and pick-up times, when there’s lots of idling cars around the school gates.

On Tuesday, 5 July 2016, we want to change that. We’d like to encourage you to cycle, scoot or walk to school with your child on the day. The more people take part, the better air quality we’ll have.

Remember to bling you bike/scooter on the 5th for a chance to win bike a prize!

IMPORTANT NOTE ON SAFETY: Please make sure that your child’s bike/scooter is in good working condition and safe to ride.
