Remember that you are dust, and to dust you shall return - Genesis3:19
Pupils listening attentively to Father Richard during our service this afternoon

Prayer has been in abundance at Christ the Saviour today with our first prayer group led by parents starting the day. Children across the school have learnt why we use ashes on Ash Wednesday and our Broadway Site pupils received the Ash cross during Mass this afternoon and asked God for forgiveness as we start Lent and recall Jesus’ temptation, suffering and fasting in the wilderness.

Throughout the 40 day period of Lent we are learning more about the Christian Value of Service as we journey towards the ultimate act of service Jesus performed when he died on the Cross to save our sins.

1 John 3:16 emphasises this clearly by declaring ‘We know what real love is because Jesus gave up his life for us.  So we also ought to give up our lives for our brothers and sisters’.

Our school motto “Pro Deo Et Ecclesia - For God and the Church” is central to our values at Christ the Saviour and with this in mind, we will learn that serving God means serving others.

Each child has their own Lent sheet which will help them prepare for Easter. There are examples each day of how we can help serve God during Lent. For example - to be the first person in your family to say “good morning” when you see them or to thank God for your friends. Please share these with your families so we can all try to be more patient, kind and prayerful during Lent.
