Butterflies in Year 3

Published

For the past 2 weeks the children in Year 3 have enjoyed watching the life cycle of butterflies unfold before their eyes. A parcel arrived containing larvae, which we watched turn into caterpillars, The next step was the caterpillars turned into pupae, we then had to be patient and wait. Once well formed the pupae were transferred into the net, ready for hatching into beautiful painted lady butterflies. The butterflies hatched and we watched in awe as they built up the strength in their wings and started to fly. On Friday we had a special ceremony where we sang hymns and prayed for the butterflies as they were released near the flowers in the churchyard. Look out for more pictures in our gallery.
