Candlemass on the Grove Site

Father David, Father Robert and Miss Sherrin joined the children for a photograph after our mass.

This morning we shared a special Candlemass on the Grove Site.  Candlemass marks the presentation of Jesus at the Temple.  Father David explained that Simeon had been told that he would not die, despite his very advanced years, until he met Jesus.  Simeon declared Jesus to be the Lord's salvation.  We shared his words in the Nunc Dimittis:

Nunc Dimittis

Lord, now lettest thou thy servant depart in peace:
according to thy word.
For mine eyes have seen: thy salvation,
Which thou hast prepared: before the face of all people;
To be a light to lighten the Gentiles:
and to be the glory of thy people Israel.

The school hall was unusually bright as we lit a series of candles as part of the mass.
