CtS Gardening Club

Published

Christ the Saviour's Gardening Club started up on 1st March this year on the roof top playground. The club runs every Friday lunchtime and this term the children have been really busy sowing lots of vegetables and flower seeds (lettuce, pea, beetroot, swiss chard, carrot, sweet pea, nasturtiums, wildflowers and sunflowers). They have learnt to look after the plants by watering, weeding and removing pests. Last week the children harvested the potatoes (that were sown in the spring term) and peas. These were given to the school kitchen to put towards the children’s lunches. The children have also been really creative painting planters and making signs that have been displayed around the garden.

This term also saw a group of children meeting 3 judges from the Ealing flower competition. It’s so nice to see the children coming along with huge amounts of enthusiasm and we hope they will continue to enjoy gardening for many years to come. We will be busy watering our school garden throughout the Summer holidays!
