Friendly Fencing Match at St Benedict’s

Published

The fencing team enjoyed a fantastic afternoon of fencing at St. Benedict's School where they tested their skills against new opponents. The team got an opportunity to use metal swords (commonly refered to as foil swords) and a lamé (a layer of electrically conductive material worn over the fencing jacket to determine whether a hit falls in the target area). The atmosphere was truly electric.

There were many close battles and most were determined only by a few points. You could cut the tension with a sword! Everyone who was involved left happy and really enjoyed the experience. We plan to continue offering fencing at school and organise many more matches for the future.
