Martin Luther King Inspires Year 6

Published

Last week in English Year 6 completed a series of lesson inspired by this photograph of Martin Luther King speaking at the Lincoln Memorial in Washington in 1964.

Initially pupils used their Chrombooks to complete internet research on Martin Luther King and his Civil Rights campaign. After lively classroom discussion, pupils then used what they had learned to write an information text for a children's encyclopedia on Martin Luther King's life and achievements.

The week's English lessons fed into our Big Talk and Big Write sessions when, inspired by Martin Luther King, pupils wrote their own "I have a dream...' speech about an issue they felt strongly about.
