Reception Year Update

The children from RR, RS, RG and RA form a band in the playground
Reading our new favourite books.

The new Reception children have made a wonderful start to the year and have settled into life at Christ the Saviour very well. Your support throughout these important first few weeks has been greatly appreciated.  Below are a few things you can help us with to continue our great start.

Please make sure that all items of clothing are labelled clearly so we are less likely to mix up or lose any items of the children's smart new uniforms - don't forget to label all items from PE kits too.

The children are really enjoying their PE sessions with Coach Crawford and we are thrilled to be able to have such an important focus on physical development so early on.  PE takes place every Tuesday - PE kits should be left at school until the end of  half term when we will send them home for a good wash. To help the children get the most from their PE sessions it would be great if they could practise dressing into and out of shorts and T-shirts by themselves at home.

We are always looking to make the most of our outdoor learning area. If you have anything spare that you feel we could use, please let us know. There is a link below to give you some ideas of the kind of things we are looking for.

You may be interested to see the assessment booklet that we have been using to provide our Baseline Assessments for pupils at the beginning of their Reception year.  We will share these assessments with you at our Parent Consultation Evening in November.  We always enjoy sharing the development journals with you and will value your contributions to these too.

Thank you so much for a great start to the year.

Best wishes,

The Reception Team
