Reception Weekly Update, week ending 2/10/15

Published

It has been another busy week in the four Reception classes here at Christ the Saviour. Now that the children are settled into school, we will be posting a weekly update of our learning and activities on this website so that you can take a peek into what they've been up to! We will also try to offer some suggestions as to a few activities and games you can play at home (or topics to discuss) to help your child consolidate their learning from school.

This week, we have been learning some facts about hedgehogs and making our own in the classroom. The children have been using various media to decorate their hedgehogs, including paint and leaves!

In Phonics, we have been looking at rhyming words. Please feel free to keep your ears open at home for any examples that you hear and discuss these with your child. How many words can you think of that rhyme with 'cat'?

In Numeracy, we have continued learning to write our numbers and are consolidating our knowledge of numbers 0-3 with lots of counting activities and games. Why not try a number walk at home and see if your child can spot these numbers around your house?

In RE this week we have been talking about the story of the Creation and practising the Lord's Prayer as part of our daily worship.

To develop our Understanding of the World, we looked at the human body and labelled as many body parts as we could think of! The children then drew around each other and discussed the parts of the body with their friends.

In PE, the children have been experimenting with different ways of moving and balancing. As the children will be changing into their PE kits from this week, please ensure your child has all the right kit at school and that everything is clearly labelled with their name.

Keep checking our galleries for new pictures which will uploaded regularly.

We thank you for your continued support. Be sure to check back next week for another update!
