St Paul’s Cathedral - Patronal Festival - 25th January 4pm

Published

Greetings from St Paul’s and a very happy New Year to you all!

In October, we wrote to you about the Advent Procession (and it was lovely to see so many of you there at the end of November) and we included a note about our Patronal Festival.

This takes place on Saturday 25 January with a great celebration of the Eucharist at 4.30 pm sung by the Cathedral Choir and with a special focus on the Diocese and especially children from churches and church schools.  The service is preceded by all sorts of exciting activities for children (all ages – from tots to teens) throughout the afternoon, starting at 2.00 pm and finishing at 4.00 pm in time for the service.   Come and take part – there will be lots of crafts, banner making, drama, prayer zone and more.

The service will last approximately 60 minutes and Bishop Richard is presiding.  The preacher is the Reverend Mary Hawes who is the National Going for Growth (Children and Youth) Advisor for the Archbishops’ Council.

We’re particularly pleased that Messy Cathedral UK is taking part in the workshops – something of a first for St Paul’s!

I do hope that you will consider joining us that afternoon.  You might want to bring a group of your children to the afternoon workshops and the service – or just to the afternoon workshops.  The service is not only for the children though and adult members of your congregations are most welcome to come to the service too.  We would love to see you there.

You do not need to book for the service,  but you do need to book for the afternoon children’s activities - details of which can be obtained from Father Simon on:  frsimon@ymail.com by the  15th January at the latest.

We hope to see as many people as possible there!
