At the end of last term Year 6 enjoyed completing their DT project of making a pair of slippers. It was a challenging project that involved researching slippers and how they are constructed; creating a paper pattern to fit their own feet and brainstorming different design ideas before selecting the one that was most appropriate to them. Finally, there was the process of cutting out, sewing and constructing their own slippers with lots of needles to thread and stitches to be sewn. Pupils chose to carry out their designs using a variety of techniques, which included embroidery, collage and using fabric pens.
The results are well worth a look - do go to our gallery to see the wonderful and colourful array of slippers which were made - incuding fox slippers, polar bears, unicorns and snowmen slippers!
