The Big Pedal 2019

We are proud to announce that Christ the Saviour will be taking part in The Big Pedal challenge this year from Tuesday 26th March to Friday 29th March. The Big Pedal is the UK's largest inter-school cycling, walking and scooting challenge that inspires pupils, staff and parents to choose 'human power' for their journey to school.

On each day of the challenge, schools compete to see who can record the greatest number of pupils, staff and parents cycling, walking or scooting to school. Each day has a theme and these are outlined in the letter that was emailed to parents today.

A staggering 1,179kg of nitrogen oxide was avoided as a result of the Big Pedal last year. Almost 46 million calories were burned from participants cycling and scooting to school. If the journeys logged had been made by car, we saved over 576 tonnes of CO2 and over 60,000 gallons of fuel costing £330,000. The aim is to have even better results this year.
