Nursery and Reception Children Enjoy Shrove Tuesday

Published

The children in Nursery and Reception enjoyed pancakes today to mark Shrove Tuesday.  Everybody had a part in getting ready - even our chickens!

Shrove Tuesday is the day before Lent starts.  It is a day of pentitence for Christians as they say sorry for their sins and seek forgiveness in preparation for Lent.  It is also a day to use up and enjoy some of the richer foods we normally eat, before them giving up in Lent.  Eggs and butter are used up as they will not stay fresh until the end of Lent.  We add milk and flour to them to make pancakes.
