Whistling a Happy Tune in Year 6

Published

What do you do when you are afraid? Do you hold your head up high and whistle a happy tune like Anna, the lead character in 'The King and I'? This morning Year 6, along with 200 other primary school pupils, were treated to a wonderful rendition of the song 'I Whistle a Happy Tune' as they watched a fantastic performance of the show at Twyford High School.

Year 6 had prepared for the performance in their English lessons by studying the characters and story of Rodgers and Hammerstein's famous musical, however they had not learned how the story ended and instead had predicted and written their own endings. It was only today, with the last fall of the curtain, that the pupils finally found out how the show ended...unfortunately the ending is not a happy one!

We look forward to reading the theatre reviews that the Year 6 pupils will write about the performance in their follow up English lessons.

Many thanks to the parents who accompanied us on the trip, and to Twyford for inviting us to see their stunning show.
