Year 1 Balance Bike Training

Year 1 and 2 pupils were treated to a display from Rob and Greg

Rob Reed from The Bicycle Society visited our Year 1 pupils this week to teach them some cycling skills. Children learnt how to use the brakes to stop, how to balance, steer and how to use their feet to help them move. It was a thoroughly enjoyable day. Click here to view some of our photographs.

This training came at the end of our Travel Safety week. Pupils on both sites were taught about some of the dangers they could face on the road. Click here if you would like to use some of these resources with your children at home.

Pupils on the Grove site were given a reflective zip tag and Broadway site pupils were given spoke reflectors for their bikes or scooters. We strongly encourage children to walk, scoot or cycle to school whenever possible. Grove site classes each have a class teddy bear who will travel to and from school with individual children, they then report back what they saw on the way to school.
