Year 4 - Metro Bank Visit

Published

The Metro Bank Money Zone Programme has introduced pupils to financial skills, helping them to build financial understanding and financial capability, in accordance with government guidelines and the national curriculum for PSHE. For example, Financial Capability: the government’s long-term approach (Treasury, 2007) requires that “ All children and young people [should] have access to a planned and coherent programme of personal finance education, so that they leave school with the skills and confidence to manage their money well.”

Pupils enjoyed the visit very much and were very excited to see how a bank operates on a day-to-day basis. They found out about ATM's and how human tellers operate behind the desks. They also thoroughly enjoyed learning about the coin caper which motivated them to save their pennies in their new Metro Bank piggy banks. A gallery of pictures can be found here.
