Year 4 - The Royal Ballet

Published

On Tuesday, 3rd November, Year 4 visited the magnificent Royal Opera House to watch an exclusive performance by the world's best ballet.  Pupils were introduced to both modern and classical ballet through a mixed programme, which culminated in Carlos Acosta's spectacular adaption of Bizet's Carmen.  The Royal Ballet's new production has not officially opened to the public, so this was a fantastic opportunity to be the first audience to see this searingly dramatic story choreographed by one of the most famed dancer's in the world.  We had lunch in the breath-taking floral hall before taking our seats located right in front of the stage. On the coach journey back to school, it was clear that the day had been a huge success with comments such as "awe-inspiring" and with many pupils, both boys and girls, now wanting to take up ballet lessons.
