Year 5 at the National Gallery

Published

Year 5 have been studying famous paintings from within the National Gallery in their English lessons. They have been discussing the characters and what is happening in the paintings which has inspired many pieces of writing so far this year.

At the gallery, Year 5 took part in a 'Talking Paintings' workshop which deepened their understandng of various paintings and helped them to tell stories about the characters. They got to marvel at some of the paintings in real life which they had been studying in class. The children also spent time sketching and drawing some of the paintings, recreating some of the beautiful pieces of art in the gallery.

The children came back to school with fantastic ideas, inspired to create more wonderful pieces of writing! Click here to see some of the photos from our visit.
