Year 6 are Inspired by Black History Month

Published

During Black History Month Year 6 have been studying the African American artist Lois Mailou Jones. Inspired by her work on African masks and patterns, Year 6 used pastels and blending to create bold and exciting designs.

In PSHE Year 6 researched role models from the black community, from pioneering scientists such as George Carver, to political activists such as Rosa Parks, to athletes such as Jessica Ennis-Hill. Year 6 created information posters on these role models and then shared with others in the class the achievements and successes of their chosen inspirational person.
