Year 6 on the Home Front

Published

Year 6 had a fantastic day at RAF Hendon, exploring and experiencing what life was like on the Home Front during the Second World War. The pupils talked to an ARP Warden, experienced an Air Raid and made their own gas mask boxes in their 'Life in the Blitz' workshop.

In the hangars the pupils viewed the Spitfires and Hurricanes that were so vital in the Battle of Britain, learned more about the role of the Lancaster Bombers in the Dam Buster raids and explored some of the physics of aeronautics in the Aeronauts Interactive Gallery.

Thank you to all the parent helpers who came with us and made the visit possible. If you would like to see more photos of our day then please view our photo gallery.
