Year One Visit to Windsor Castle

Published

On Tuesday 6th May, Year One went on a fantastic trip to Windsor Castle. The children saw the Changing of the Guard ceremony and explored the castle, including St. George's Chapel, the Queen's Dolls' House and the beautiful State Apartments.

They participated in a workshop entitled 'The Queen - On Duty and Off' and there was a role-play of a Coronation and Knighting Ceremony.  The children gained lots of facts about the Royal Family and now know that if the Queen reigns for two more years, she will be the longest reigning monarch in Britain!

The children were hoping to meet the Queen during the trip, but unfortunately the Union Jack was flying from the tower which meant she was not in!  Had it been the Royal Standard flag, the children would have been keeping their eyes peeled as it would have meant she was there!
