30 Jan Getting Girls Active
Year 6 girls had an exciting morning last Thursday, with tag rugby taster sessions from Trailfinders Rugby Club! Kate Zackary and Alivia Leatherman, who both play for Trailfinders Women’s Rugby team and the USA, their home country, came to talk to the girls about being active, playing rugby and being a professional athlete as well as delivering some fun activities with community coach Andrew Quick. The girls loved the sessions and walked away at the end with some free merchandise and details about tag rugby half term camps.
This has followed on from our successful girls’ only football session last year, inviting conversations and class discussions about challenging stereotypes, women in sport and gender gaps in sports participation.
