Reception Writing Stay and Play

This half term, we have been delighted to welcome so many parents into school to learn about how we support the development of children’s early writing skills in Reception. We discussed how writing opportunities can be found everywhere from writing shopping lists to writing a postcard to their friend or creating labels of models they have made.

The children were excited to play with their parents and carers and enjoyed exploring a variety of writing-based opportunities planned around their interests and our topic of traditional tales.The children engaged in a range of activities such as making words in the water tray, writing letters to Rapunzel, designing and labelling their own castles and creating menus in the castle kitchen!
