13 Mar Lent Charity: Ealing Foodbank
During Lent, we are focusing on the importance of acts of service, remembering that ‘The Son of Man did not come to be served but to serve’. With this in mind, we are continuing our whole school charitable partnership with Ealing Foodbank.
The foodbank provides an essential service in our local community, supporting families for short periods of time when they are most in need. We will be collecting non-perishable food items until Thursday 27th March, when our school council representatives from the Broadway site will be dropping off our donations at the foodbank.
The foodbank has requested specific, non-perishable items and this year our school council reps have decided which area each year group should focus on, so that we will have a wide range of donations from all categories. The year groups and their requested itema are listed below and images of ideas for donations can be found on the document below:
- Reception and Nursery – Tinned fruit and vegetables.
- Year 1 – Long life fruit juice and squash. UHT milk – whole milk only please.
- Year 2 -Tinned meat and fish. Chickpeas and kidney beans.
- Year 3 – Savoury and sweet biscuits. Instant coffee.
- Year 4 – Vegetarian packet meals – curry, chilli, macaroni cheese etc.
- Year 5 – Tinned rice pudding and custard. Peanut butter, honey and jam.
- Year 6 – Toiletries – hair shampoo, shower gel, hand soap, shaving foam & razors, deodorant, dental, sanitary towels.
What Could I donate? Ideas for each Year Group
On the Broadway site, our school council reps will create a special area next to their classrooms for each year group’s donations. At the Grove site, donations can be made on the gates at morning drop off. If you are able to, please send these donations into school before Thursday 27th March. Thank you for all your support in helping our local community!
