In Year 4 we have been exploring all about human bodies, from our teeth to our digestive system.
The children have made some fantastic models of their teeth showing their understanding of the different roles of the incisors, molars and canines. We have also looked at the damage different drinks can do to our teeth. Placing egg shells into water, coke and orange juice, we saw that the high sugar content of the orange juice and coke made the egg shells brittle and discoloured them. Imagine what happens to our teeth when we drink these drinks!
We also explored how the human digestive system works, looking at how food travels from our mouths to the toilet. Using banana, rich tea and orange juice we modelled how our food travels through the intestines (a pair of tights) and we watched how it came out the other side once all the nutrients have been absorbed by the body. The human body is extremely fascinating!
