Special Educational Needs

Home > About us  > School Policy > Special Educational Needs

Inclusion is at the heart of what we do as a school. We are proud of the provision we offer for a wide number of pupils with diverse needs and we believe it is for this reason parents choose our school for their child. Do not hesitate to call us if you are thinking about applying to CtS – we will welcome you and will be glad to show you and your child around.

CtS is an aspirational and inclusive community committed to nurturing the unique gifts of every child. Strong SEND leadership, clear routines and a carefully sequenced, inclusive curriculum have enabled the school to respond effectively to change. A substantial rise in the number of pupils with Education, Health and Care Plans—an increase of approximately 200% over five years—has required strategic adjustments to staffing, professional training, specialist resources and the physical learning environment. The school has strengthened partnership working with Ealing specialist settings and alternative provision, including successful dual-placement arrangements for some pupils. Leadership has also prioritised medical and pastoral safety through the appointment of two school welfare assistants, a dramatherapist, and specialist teaching assistants, ensuring effective support for pupils with complex health needs and providing reassurance for families.

Our provision has been further strengthened through robust identification, assessment and targeted support systems that reduce barriers to learning for all pupils. Strong transition processes, including communication passports, home visits and detailed handovers, ensure staff understand individual needs from the outset, particularly for pupils with SEND or those with EHCPs. Staff awareness has increased through CPD, data analysis and regular pupil progress reviews, enabling aspirational target setting supported by Small Step Plans and individual Pupil Premium plans. Inclusive environments are reinforced through environmental audits, sensory and behaviour plans, monitored sensory provision and improved playtime routines.

CtS SEND (School Offer)

You can download our ‘school offer’ for pupils with special educational needs and our SEN policy on the policy page of our website. In the document we answer questions about what sort of approaches we use and how and where you can find out more.

Support at home

We have introduced regular parent coffee mornings on a wide range of topics to support parents and share inclusive practice. These sessions are led by school staff or other educational professionals such as our occupational therapist, speech and language therapists or our educational psychologist.

Inclusion Team

Everyone at Christ the Saviour is part of the inclusion team. Support starts in the classroom, playground and lunch hall where staff adapt the learning environment and learning journey to meet the needs of each child.

Local Offer

Ealing’s Local Offer website is an online resource for children and young people aged 0-25 with special educational needs or disability. It has everything you need to know about local services and provision. To find out more about the Local Offer please click here: Ealing Local Offer

The SEN and Inclusion team has made a series of videos for parents of children with additional needs. The aim of the videos are to:

  • Offer reassurance to parents and reduce stigma around SEND
  • Offer clear information and advice to parents on a range of topics relating to SEND assessment, diagnosis and processes
  • To signpost parents to additional support for their child and their family

You can find the videos on the Ealing SEND Youtube page – including former CtS students –   here.
