09 Feb Exploring Other World Faiths
Our RE curriculum this half term has been rich in opportuities for children to explore another world faith. As part of their learning about Judaism the Year 5 children have had an opportunity to talk to a Jewish believer in an online interview; the children prepared questions beforehand and then were able to take turns asking questions live online.
This week, to help them understand more about the Jewish festival of Passover, Year 5 sampled some of the foods that form part of the Jewish Seder meal. Each of the foods have a symbolic importance, for example the salt water reminds the Jewish people of the tears and the sweat of the years of slavery in Egypt. Some of the foods were unfamiliar to the children, the horseradish, which reminds the Jewish people of the bitterness of slavery was quite a surprise to some!
