Sports Baton Relay

A report from our Year 5 Sports Ambassadors:

In July an astonishing, international event is going to take place in Birmingham, the name of this event is the Commonwealth Games. Before the games start a baton relay takes place where the Queen’s baton travels around the world, and ends up in England, (in time for the games). 

In Ealing nearly thirty primary schools have been having their own baton relay, to celebrate sporting events. Our CtS Sports Ambassador’s received the sports baton from The Grange, then recently passed it on to St Gregory’s school.

When the Grange passed it and came to give it to us they had three sports ambassadors who met us at the gate, they handed it over and then our school had it over the Easter holiday term, until we gave it over to St Gregory’s school on Wednesday last week. 

One of the Sports Ambassador’s stated, “There was lots of excitement and the school were clapping and cheering when we ran through and handed the baton to the St Gregory’s Sport Ambassadors.”

We hope the baton sports relay is an inspiration to you and makes us all excited about the Commonwealth Games coming to our country in July 2022!
