16 Nov Amazing Animals in Year 1
Year One had some very exciting visitors in their classrooms this week to support them in their science topic of learning about animals.
The children got to meet invertebrates such as Cheese the giant snail, who has no bones and a very squishy body. Year One were very excited to learn that he has 10,000 teeth on his tongue!
The children also met Giggle the cockroach, who is an omnivore. Giggle is very strong and showed the children how he was able to hang upside down. Everyone giggled when they found out that he has two brains – one in his head and the other near his bottom!
Year One learned lots of fascinating facts about their visitors, Pudding the snake smells with his tongue and Jack the rat is very clever, he has an excellent sense of smell and can hear twenty times better than human beings.
All the children were fantastic at sharing their own knowledge of animals and showed amazing care and a gentle touch to all the creatures who visited their classrooms. Well Done Year One!
