08 Dec Year 3 Explore Ealing
Each class in Year 3 has recently enjoyed a geography field trip around the local area where they compared what they could see on a map of 1777 with both a current map and the world around them.
They learned that the Uxbridge Road has been there since at least 1777 and that Haven Green has too – but it used to be much larger! Year 3 can now tell you that the area around our school has changed from largely agricultural use to no agriculture at all and that it is much busier with houses, more transport and more commercial land use.
Year 3 were surprised by how much they could learn by just looking up as they explored the local area – lots of clues to the past history and uses of buildings were found above ground level. Some of the adults on the trip were surprised how much they learned too!
When you walk around Ealing see if you can spot some of these landmarks that Year 3 found.
