06 Jul 5OC and 5WK Residential
5OC and 5WK had a fantastic first day on their residential enjoying exploring the site with orienteering, a run around quiz and learning new skills like archery and rock climbing. Mr Purnell and Ms Gold showcased their rockclimbing skills at the end of the session with Ms Gold narrowly beating Mr Purnell in their climbing race to the top!
Today all the children are on the water where the first challenge was mastering the task of getting into a wet suit. Once fully suited the children were ready to tackle the team work exercise of raft building, quickly learning that working together to tie secure knots is an essential part of creating a water-worthy craft!
Year 5’s other water activities have included kayaking and group paddle boarding. It has been fantastic to see the water confidence of all the children and how well they are encouraging one another and working together.
Team work has also been an essential quality outside of the activity schedule as the children work together to earn points for the highest score in the room inspections – parents you will be so impressed with the organised and tidy rooms that we have here!
Year 5 are looking forward to their campfire tonight and more activites tomorrow morning before we head home after lunch.
