18 Sep House Captain Elections
Our Year 6 candidates for house captain began their campaigns on Friday with the first elections taking place at both the Broadway and the Grove site. A record number of candidates have put themselves forward for the elections this year – a total of 75 candidates across the four houses! You can see some of them pictured below.
In the elections each house gathers in the hall in turn to listen to the one minute speeches which each candidate has prepared. All pupils, from Year 1 to Year 6, then cast their votes electronically, supported by our Year 6 helpers.
It is wonderful to see the ideas and creativity that go into the presentations and the accompanying campaign posters. This year speeches were accompanied by songs, raps, confetti, sweets, lego, rosettes and flashing lights!
Some of the new ideas proposed by the candidates included a board games clubs at lunch time, trading card days, a Google Classroom for each house to collect ideas, pyjama days, a bee keeping club and ‘Music Mondays’. More ambitious ideas included a pool on the roof top and laser guns in the playground!
The houses were inspired with passionate words:
“It’s not about me, it’s about you.”
“Team work is necessary for us to make the school better.”
“Remember a little act of kindness can brighten someone’s day.”
We look forward to announcing our new house captains on Friday 22nd in Celebration Worship.
