14 Mar Wonderful Waterstones
With much excitement, and armed with their World Book Day book tokens, the Year 6 pupils walked over to the local, Ealing Waterstones this week, to browse the stories, poems, graphic art novels and factual texts that fill the many children’s shelves of this bookshop. Cross-legged on the floor or circled, in a group, around a tale that had caught their attention, the Year 6 pupils explored new stories with their peers:
‘I’ve never heard of this writer but I like the blurb. It’s a detective novel with a girl leading the mystery.’
‘I want to write a book one day, just like these.’
‘This graphic art story is just like the illustrations I do at home; it’s given me some ideas.
World Book Day has something for everyone and this week the children got to explore far off lands and marvel at mysteries and adventures set in different times and places.
And a huge thank you, to our parent helpers who were so generous with their time, as the children excitedly explored the shop, bought a book with their token and chatted excitedly all the way back to school about their morning.
