On the last day of half term, seven Year 6 children went off to Ellen Wilkinson School to compete in a netball tournament. In addition to needing the skills they had learned in their lessons at school, the team spent time practising their shooting in the days leading up to the tournament, and had a few new rules to learn too.
At the tournament, the participants were encouraged to demonstrate the School Games Value of teamwork, and this they certainly did! Ms Jolliffe was particularly impressed with the initiative they showed during the warm up time, working together to get themselves ready for their first match and encouraging each other throughout the morning.
The competition was a round robin event, where all the teams played against each other. The organisers required a strict rotation system for each match, meaning that the children had to play a new position every game.
The team won three of their matches convincingly, 3-0, 5-0, and 3-0, but narrowly just missed out on medals, finishing in 4th place. A great team effort – well done netballers!
