24 Apr Marvellous Micro:bits
One of our Year 5 pupils wrote the article below to share their learning from last term’s DT and Computing lessons – enjoy!
“In our DT and computing units, we made robots and programmed them with Micro:bits. We did this because we need to know the importance of technology in our society and investigate how robots are actually made.
DT is a very creative subject because you can show your skills by building things. In the Spring term, Year 5 learnt about how you can use the technology of Micro:bits in different ways. We learnt about technology and how important it is for everyone around the world. We also explored recycling, because using recycled materials was part of our success criteria.
In computing, we researched how incredible and versatile Micro:bits are. Using computers is great because it is a more efficient way to do things. Computers help humanity to be better.
Children loved this topic since it was very attractive because they were able to use the computers and programme their own robots by using Micro:bits. Everyone liked it as they were able to make whatever type of robot they wanted. We are all very excited to work with Micro:bits again in Year 6.”
What a fantastic project Year 5 – well done!
