14 Jul Free Cycle Training
We have been really pleased over the past two years with the success of our School Street and the work of our Junior Travel Ambassadors who have promoted healthy and active travel in our school community. The work this year has included a focus on road safety in assemblies and PSHE lessons and scooter training for our youngest children. Our full bicycle and scooter racks at each site are a testimony to the number of children who come to school in healthy and active ways!
We are now delighted to be able to let you know that there is the opportunity for children to have free cycle training over the summer holidays at local primary schools, including our own.
There are three diffierent courses on offer:
Learn to Ride (LTR): this course is 90 mintues for 2 consecutive days. It’s for children that cannot ride a bike and would like to learn how to. This course is for children from Reception and above.
Level 1: this course is 90 mintues for 2 consecutive days. It’s for children that can ride a bike, but need more practice before cycling on the road, such as not being able to cycle with one hand (i.e. to signal left or right). For children from Year 3 and above
Level 2: course lasts 2 consecutive days and the trainee must attend all days to achieve a Bikeability certificate and badge. This course is for children in School Year 5 and above, that are comfortable riding a bike with one hand. The course is an introduction to cycling on quiet roads.
