07 Jul High School Travel
As part of the transition work that we do with our Year 6 pupils, the children have been thinking about how they can prepare for independent travel to their secondary school. Many of our Year 6s will be making a longer journey to and from school when they start Year 7 and will be using buses, tubes and trains. Last week, our Year 6 enjoyed an interactive talk by Emily from Transport for London to help them prepare. Journey planning tips and the benefits of active travel were on the agenda as the children reflected on tools for safer and responsible travel on public transport.
“I learned that when the days are shorter in Winter you need to remember it gets darker earlier when you’re travelling.”
“Now I’m 11 I can apply for a Zip Oyster card from the TfL website which lasts till I’m 15 and lets me travel on buses for free and on tubes for a discount fare!”
