24 Oct Spotlight on Year 4 Writing
Year 4’s book for this half term was The Great Kapok Tree. The children really engaged with the story and we looked at the impact that deforestation has on the environment. Year 4 have written some fantastic persuasive letters to Rupa Huq encouraging her to take action against deforestation. Some pupils have also given a review of the book:
Thea in 4MY said, “I really liked the book, The Great Kapok tree, because it tells us that you can act against deforestation and I found it interesting that small differences can make a big change.”
Thomas in 4IR commented, “The book was great because it shows that deforestation is stoppable and I would recommend the book to others because it highlights how important the animals are in the rainforest.”
Lemuel in 4MY said, “It was a really nice book and I really liked how the animals encouraged the man to stop cutting the Kapok tree. I learnt that it’s bad for the environment to cut down trees because trees provide us with oxygen and if we keep cutting them down the air will have too much carbon dioxide.”
