16 Jan Making Music
We are delighted that this year we have added a new instrument to our music curriculum – this half term in their class music lessons, all the children in Year 3 and 4 will be learning the basics of recorder playing, including how to hold it correctly, how to blow gently so it doesn’t squeak, and how to cover the holes in an effective way so that they can produce different notes and play a simple tune. By the end of the half term the class will have learned to play a simple class ensemble piece with every child playing the recorder. We are looking forward to that!
If you would like to support your child to practise at home and show you what they have learned, a soprano descant recorder can be bought online very cheaply for around five pounds. This would really support your child’s learning and hopefully bring some lovely music into your homes too!
If you would like to know more about what the children learn in music please look at your year group curriculum map or do have a look at the update below from Sing Education, who are our music curriculum provider across the school.
