The PE and Sports Premium is extra funding provided by the government so that schools can make additional and sustainable improvements to the quality of the PE, physical activity and sport offered through their core budgets.
At CtS we are committed to ensuring that the PE & Sports Premium funding is allocated to high quality, sustainable initiatives. These initiatives support the continued improvement and provision of PE and Sport at school and the teaching of a healthy and active lifestyle to pupils. The additional funding is used to provide additional swimming lessons for our children; our provision goes way beyond the statutory six weeks of swimming lessons, resulting in children who have the potentially life-saving skill of being safe and confident around water. The grant is also used to provide children with the opportunity to engage in a broader range of sports and activities; participation levels within curricular and extracurricular activities are raised and increased learning opportunities about healthy diet and nutrition are provided.
In recent years we have significantly increased the participation levels of pupils in extra-curricular sporting activities with sports such as fencing, skateboarding, netball, hockey, cricket, football, ballet and gymnastics offered weekly to children. Higher participation in sporting activities has strengthened our pupils’ leadership skills and the number of inter school and regional competitions we have entered has increased.
We are very proud to say that the successful use of the sports premium funding has gained us a School Games Gold Award for the third consecutive year, confirmation of our excellent provision and commitment for all children to have the opportunity to positively experience competitive sport.
Each year we publish how we have spent our Sports Premium:
