Parents receive regular information from the school, our PTA or class reps.
We aim to be an open school who listen objectively and respond honestly to all parents. If the school gets something wrong, we ask parents to come and talk to us so that we might work together to resolve any issues.
We expect parents to:
- Respect the ethos, vision and values of our school
- Work together with staff in the best interests of our pupils
- Treat all members of the school community with respect – setting a good example with speech and behaviour
- Seek a peaceful solution to all issues
- Approach the right member of the school staff to help resolve any issues of concern
Who will send me information, and how?
The school communicates with parents via email and information shared on the school website. For urgent or time sensitive information we will send an SMS to the primary guardians. Examples of information sent from the school: school trips, curriculum information, events, clubs, school management issues, news, homework, school meals, PE, collective worship. .
The PTA communicates with parents via email, WhatsApp and the PTA Facebook page. Examples of information sent from the PTA: Fundraising events, calls for volunteers, newsletters, calls for donations, ticket sales, reminders.
PTA Class reps communicate with parents via email and WhatsApp. Examples of information sent by class reps: Class socials, organising volunteers, sharing PTA messages. reminders.
Your class WhatsApp group is not an appropriate place to share comments, messages and views from other groups or organisations. Comment threads can soon get out of hand. Think about how your post could come across, and about how you would feel if you were on the receiving end. Class WhatsApp groups should not be used to share personal information about individual pupils.
What to do if you feel a post is inappropriate
Please be assured that we will not tolerate inappropriate emails, posts or messages. If someone makes an inappropriate comment please contact your class rep, the PTA committee, or a senior staff member . PTA moderators will refer inappropriate posts to senior staff and can bar someone from a group. Parents can always choose to leave a WhatsApp group – and no-one should make a judgement about that . You can request that any photo or comment in which you are mentioned is removed immediately from class WhatsApp threads.
The school and the PTA have worked together on a communication guide to ensure you know where to seek information, and how best to use email, the PTA Facebook or WhatsApp if you are a class rep, or a parent commenting on social media.
