25 Nov Masks and Myths
Year 4 have been learning about Ancient Greece in their History lessons this term and their learning came to life last week on Ancient Greek Day! The children wore amazing costumes and we celebrated a whole day learning about Ancient Greek Theatre and Myths. We learnt about the myth of Pandora’s Box and made our own boxes filled with the evils and the hopes of the world. We also learnt about Ancient Greek Theatre, made stage masks and watched each other perform some Ancient Greek Theatre.
“ It was very fun because we learnt about the story of Pandora’s Box which taught us about having hope even when things are hard. We also made Greek masks from theatre and learnt about how Greek theatre and the Greek Gods and Goddess still influence our world today.”- Jaxon 4MH
“ We made masks and learned about Pandora’s box. It was fun because we got to do lots of History learning and we learnt that the Greeks used lots of masks in the theatre because women could not perform. The stages were in circular theatres so the sound echoed and we got to perform our own Greek plays!”- Chloe, 4IR
“ I had lots of fun on Greek Day because we got to dress up and we got to make masks. The masks were used in theatres in Ancient Greece so that men could play the female characters.”- Lara, 4MH
