30 Sep Year 6 Home Learning
Year 6 have amazed us with the incredible effort and knowledge shown in their recent science homework all about the human heart. After learning in class about how the heart pumps blood around the body, the children went home and created detailed posters, diagrams, and fact sheets to showcase their understanding.
The children demonstrated an impressive grasp of complex scientific ideas. Many pupils carefully labelled diagrams of the heart, showing the left and right atria and ventricles, the pulmonary veins and arteries, and even the superior and inferior vena cava. Others explained the difference between oxygenated and deoxygenated blood with confidence, noting how blood travels to the lungs to collect oxygen before being pumped back out to the rest of the body. Some even described how this cycle speeds up during exercise!
Their posters were not only accurate but also creative and eye-catching. We saw colourful diagrams, key vocabulary lists, flow charts showing the journey of blood, and even friendly cartoon hearts reminding us to, “Stay healthy.” Year 6 have really engaged with the first Science topic, ‘Why is the circulatory system so important’, and all of the Year 6 teachers are so excited to see the next piece of homework!
Well done, Year 6 – your scientific knowledge and creativity are outstanding.
