03 Oct New House Captains
We were delighted last week to see democracy in action as we held our annual house captain elections. We are immensely proud of the number of Year 6 pupils who put themselves forward as candidates; in total 65 different candidates battled it out for the 8 positions.
All the candidates had spent time preparing their campaign posters and speeches which were brimming with ideas to make our school an even better place to be. The suggestions ranged from class pets and new football goals, to eco projects and vending machines in school! Our candidates shared their passions for music, drama and sport and spoke confidently of how they wanted to work as a team to make sure our school continued to be a friendly, supportive and inclusive community. The speeches were truly inspiring!
After pupils heard all the speeches from their house candidates, pupils from Year 6 acted as electoral officers to support all the children to cast their votes electronically. Every pupil had the opportunity to vote for one girl and one boy and we were delighted to introduce the new house captains to the shcool last Friday. We look forward to seeing all that they will do to lead and inspire us this year!
