We are delighted that our UKS2 netball team came home with gold medals from their tournament. Do enjoy the match report below which was written by Vivienne, one of our House Captains and a member of the netball team:
It was freezing cold as we walked down the road to the netball tournament at Ellen Wilkinson, but we were in good spirits. We were surprisingly early, and so we decided to practise and talk format before the games began. Before we knew it, we were introduced to what would happen, there was an A competition and a B competition and we had been put in the B. There would be 4 practice matches and 2 that would matter.
Our first match didn’t get us off to a good start, as we lost. Out of all the practice matches, we only won one, however we had figured out a strategy that could help us win the two that mattered, we rearranged our team so that everyone played to their strengths and we were determined to do our best.
To our delight the next match was a win, we scored three goals and defended well so the final score was 3-0. Then, to our amazment, the second match went really well too and once again we won 3-0.
Our two victories and clean score sheet meant that we finished top of the competition. We were really happy when we got gold, and honestly we were very surprised after the slow start we made!
