27 Mar Junior Travel Ambassadors
Well done to our Junior Travel Ambassadors who led two Active Travel assemblies last week for all our pupils on the Broadway site. In their assembly the JTAs explained how travelling actively to school by walking, cycling, scooting, using the bus or doing ‘Park and Stride’ can benefit the whole school community. Less cars dropping near the school gates mean that there is less traffic and less pollution around our school. Walking, cycling or scooting to school also means that we all get some exercise and arrive at school alert and ready to learn. What’s more, travelling to school in an active way is also a lot of fun!
In their assemblies the JTAs also introduced the ‘Big Walk and Wheel’ which is taking place this week at the Broadway site. This week we have asked as many people as possible to travel to school in active ways rather than using the car – our JTAs are taking a survey each day to see how many active travel journeys we have completed and we are uploading our data to the ‘Big Walk and Wheel’ website to see how we get on compared to other schools. If we do really well we have a chance at winning some Big Walk and Wheel prizes!
Thank you JTAs for all your work in encouraging us to travel to school in active healthy ways!
