22 Jun Mental Health Champions
After four months of training, our mental health champions have been carrying out some invaluable peer support. The MHCs were so enthused by their opportunity to put their skills into practice and they met with younger pupils to listen to them and offer support. Pupils who they helped fed back to members of staff that they felt listened to and supported. The MHCs had some very positive feedback on their training and 1:1 sessions:
“This was the best experience in Year 6. I felt so proud of myself for listening and showing that I care.”
“My training came in handy and I gave ideas on what might help like breathing techniques and writing it down or speaking to their mum. It felt good to help.”
“I’ve learned so much doing MHCs; I loved it and I told mum I want to do peer mentoring in high school.”
Thank you Mental Health Champions for being so proactive in helping us all to prioritise our mental health and well being!
